Today is Part 6 of 6 in our acronym T.H.I.R.S.T., and we will be looking at the ‘T’ which stands for, “Trust.” As a reminder our verse has been John 6:35 and our focus is to “Never Thirst.” To be satisfied in Jesus Christ is to “never thirst” for the things this world has to offer, but finding life and satisfaction in him alone.
It really comes down to who you trust everyday. For every decision. We can either, trust in the Lord with all of our hearts, or lean on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). We can either walk by the Spirit, or walk by the flesh (Galatians 5:16). We can walk in the light, or walk in darkness (John 8:12). Like the Israelite’s who were freed from slavery yet desired to go back to Egypt rather than to trust the Lord. Who drank from the Rock in the wilderness, and that Rock was Christ (1 Corinthians 10:4). We too can choose idolatry, as some of them did (1 Corinthians 10:7). We too can choose to indulge in sexual immorality, as some of them did and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day (1 Corinthians 10:8). We too can choose to test the Lord, as some of them did and were destroyed by serpents (1 Corinthians 10:9). We too can choose to grumble, as some of them did and were destroyed by the Destroyer (1 Corinthians 10:10). May we never turn from the freedom that is ours in Christ Jesus! (John 8:36)
