I Don’t Struggle With Pornography

So, you don’t struggle with pornography, huh? Let me explain why this may or may not be true for you and I. Typically we think of pornography as on the internet, in magazines, or DVD’s, cable TV, etc. We know all those can contain pornographic images. But what about looking at women and fantasizing about being with them sexually, is that pornographic?

Pornography, is the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement. You could have a pornographic mind without looking at pornography at all. You and God are the only one’s who would know the truth on this one. You are the one who has to be honest with yourself. What will you say? Do you have, or have you had images in your mind with the intent of causing “sexual excitement?” Consider the words of Jesus in this passage. 28 Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matthew 5:28).

So looking isn’t the issue, but looking with “lust” is enough to infuse adultery in your heart (Matthew 5:30). Notice the Scripture here says, has already committed adultery “with her” in his heart. To commit adultery “with her,” you would have to have a desire or fantasy about her. Does this not eventually lead to looking…lusting…and masturbation? Of course it does! And we do not gratify our flesh (Galatians 5:16) without images, even the images in our minds used with the “intent” to cause “sexual excitement.” Do we? Of course not! So, do you struggle with images in your mind even though you may have never looked at “pornography?” Have you, or do you now have images in your mind that are used with the intent to cause sexual excitement?
