The Glory Of God

21For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Claiming to be wise they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images… (Romans 1:21-23)

1) Their thinking became futile

2) Their hearts were darkened

3) They claimed to be wise

4) They became fools

What did they exchange God’s glory for?

A) Huh?

B) Money

C) Images

1) Their thinking became futile

2) Their hearts were darkened

3) They claimed to be wise

4) They became fools

5) They exchanged the glory of God for images…

Isn’t this the tragedy of pornography in our lives? This is the downward spiral that leads to the exchange of “images” for the “glory of God.” Do you see this same downward spiral in your life? We claim to “know God” but we have made a critical “exchange” of pornographic images for his glory!

What was the initial cause of this downward spiral?

A) They did not have a clue

B) They did not have enough information

C) They did not honor God or give thanks to him

The spiral of immorality could have been stopped by “honoring God” and giving “thanks to him.” They didn’t “honor him as God” because they were trying to find satisfaction elsewhere. Sound familiar? I know it does for me! My life was all about the “exchanging” of “images” for the “glory of God.”

24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen (Romans 1:24, 25)

What did God do as a result of their sin?

A) Repeat the question

B) What does that mean

C) He gave them over to sexual impurity

1) Their thinking became futile

2) Their hearts were darkened

3) They claimed to be wise

4) They became fools

5) They exchanged the glory of God for images…

6) God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity

Pornography is the great counterfeit relationship. The exchange of “truth” for a “lie.” Gratifying the flesh through masturbation, “worship” of “created things,” bowing down to them while raising up an idol, mastered as we continue to “serve,” the “created things” rather than the Creator.

Will you “exchange” your “images” for the glory of God?

A) No, the images are my god

B) No, I love being miserable

C) Yes, I will exchange the images for the glory of God

I don’t normally reblog but, in light of the last post I did on masturbation being a sin, I’d really like you all to take a look at what this post has to say about pornography! Great scriptures are included!

    Erick

Please pray for me. I struggled with my thoughts in my mind over the weekend. I did better today. Bringing back to memory 1 Cor. 10:13 and asking God for the gift of repentance helped. I pray that God continues to be with you.

      Ed,
I am praying for you friend and will continue to. We wont be struggle free in this world, but we take our thoughts captive before they take us (2 Corinthians 10:5). We know the mind is where the battle is (2 Corinthians 11:3). And thank you for the reminder of the gift of repentance.
