Take It With You!

Whatever habits you have now will be with you for the long haul in life, taking it with you wherever you go, and whoever you meet. Good habits will produce good things, and bad habits will produce bad things. I know, that was some kind of new revelation, right? You could have said that too! But seriously–bad habits will pave a road to failure!

Countless young men (and women), as yourself, have taken the plunge into the pornographic world, never thinking how it would lead to the destruction of all future relationships–especially the one that means the most–your relationship with your future spouse. 22 Flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness (2 Timothy 2:22). Without fleeing there can be no pursuing of right-ness, or righteousness.

Whatever you are doing now, whatever habits, whether good or bad will be taken with you wherever you go, and whoever you meet. Let that sink in! Think with me! You have been set up for failure if you are trapped by sexual sin! You must do whatever it takes to find freedom! At whatever the cost! (Matthew 5:29, 30) How much will you pay? Well, that all depends on what you do from this moment on.

Are you counting the cost (Luke 14:28)? It will cost you all that’s important to you right now! Or, it will cost you all that’s important to you later! Now is much better and less painful! Do you understand? Destroy it now, giving up all your pleasure, or allow it to destroy you later. It will take your life! It will take your marriage! It will take your children! All that becomes important to you as you grow up in this life will be taken from you! (John 10:10)

You see, I took it with me too. I took a life of self–centeredness. I took a life dominated by sin. I took a life that was “led astray” in thinking (2 Corinthians 11:3). It lead me further from God which inevitably will take you further from your spouse and the ones you love the most! What are you willing to pay?

Good plea for us, Erick, as you said, “Destroy it now!” It reminds me of Colossians 3:5, “Therefore, put to death what belongs to your worldly nature:sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry.” I love you, bro’.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, Colossians 3:5 is a good addition to Matthew 5:29, 30–where we are told to, “tear out,” and “cut it off.” Thank you for your support!
